The Hive is a unique and innovative member led organisation with charitable objects that aim to improve the quality of life for residents and further the fight against social isolation whilst creating opportunities for young people to advance in life. The Hive is based in Winsford with the area of interest being The Weaver Valley in Cheshire.


The operations manager will report to the Hive board of directors and is also ultimately accountable to the wider membership and shareholder.

Job Title

Working to the requirements of the board of trustees and the General Manager, this role will ensure the daily operations of this multi-activity venue, with particular responsibility for the effective and profitable operating of the Café Bar and other food and drink provisions.


  • Operational experience in busy hospitality environments, food and drink

  • Genuine customer service focus and attitude

  • Experience of ordering and stock inventory

  • Able to manage and motivate teams of employees or volunteers

  • Overall responsibility, as the host, for the day-to-day customer experience at The Hive

  • Day-to-day management caretaking and security of The Hive venue and community facilities

  • Ensuring all bookings are clear, communicated and well managed

  • Maximising service and profitability of the community café bar and other bar areas

  • Management of food offering to meet local community preferences

  • Resourcing and staffing food and drink elements of events (both internal and external).


  • Ensuring the facility is clean, safe and well presented at opening and closing every day

  • Manage the bar and catering operations including the café bar

  • Identify and report maintenance issues and requirements for improvements to facilities

  • Ensuring café bar and other catering needs are met through ordering and inventory control

  • Day to day resourcing of café bar and other bar areas working to tight budgets

  • Communication with partners, users and customers to ensure the facility meets their booking requirements

  • Being the in-house point of contact for customers and users during their visit to the Hive

  • Resolve customer concerns and issues during use of the venue.
